Personal Lines Marketing Director

Overview

The Marketing Director is responsible for the placement of Personal Lines insurance accounts by working as a liaison with Producers and Account Executives. The director responds to inquiries regarding new accounts, negotiates premiums and terms with insurance carrier underwriters, prepares proposals, and binds coverage by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities

Business Development and Insurance Placement

  • Serves as a lead resource for Producers and Account Executives for new Personal Lines Business
  • Manages and analyzes an elevated level of insurance related information in a variety of formats to identify appropriate carriers for prospective customers.
  • Interfaces with insurance carrier underwriters to answer questions and solicit quotes for new business.
  • Negotiates premiums, coverages, terms, and conditions for prospective clients.
  • Delivers or assists in the delivery of Personal Lines Proposals.
  • Works with Personal Lines Management to create customer facing proposals

Relationship Building

  • Meet with insurance carrier underwriters and marketing personnel to develop business relationships needed to determine carrier’s interest in various classes of business. Makes carrier recommendations that influence departmental decisions.
  • Develops strong partnerships with Producers and Account Executives to meet and exceed Company goals.
  • Maintains knowledge of markets / carriers necessary to place business.

Business Analysis and Process Improvement

  • Assists in the analysis of lines of coverage and insurance company trends with the intent of maximizing opportunities for new business placement and customer retention.
  • Keeps abreast of insurance industry trends and markets.
  • Plans and conducts market research to identify opportunities for increased sales.
  • Partners with Personal Lines Management to create customer facing proposals, modify workflows, and welcome packages.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Ten percent travel.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree from college or technical school; or 5-10 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid MA Property and Casualty insurance license.
  • Ability to navigate multiple systems including Agency Management Software.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced Working knowledge of the Massachusetts Personal Lines Marketplace and the corresponding carrier rating platforms.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office products
